"Canadian slipper" test knit finishedPosted on 1:30pm Saturday 3rd Mar 2012 Knitting news update! I have now finished a test run of the slippers which my Canadian friends asked me if it was possible for me to make, quite hard to knit from a verbal description, but I remembered some I'd seen in Montreal before and then had a scour of the web to see how these kind of slippers are made and to try to work it out. I've done these in a mushroom colour in ladies size and quite pleased with how it turned out. They are really comfy, the puffy ridges are snuggly and all the threads weave together inside to create a dense fabric. I've added a crochet trim in a contrasting cream and a hanging loop at the back to help get them on and off or hang them up for drying and just because I liked it! They stretch to fit and these ones will fit ladies size 4-7 UK. I've used yarn that is 80% acrylic because they have to be tough for being walked on and 20% wool for warmth and a touch of luxury.
My friends took a look at a photo of them and said it's perfect! So now I'm going to make some man size and children's size, in different colours. I'll make them available to order in the shop when I'm totally happy with everything. In other news my free patterns have very kindly been listed on knittingpatterncentral.com - thank you so much to them for doing that! I hope fellow knitters will enjoy them and I'm really chuffed. My spring collection of Easter eggs, bunny and strawberries is now all uploaded and available in the shop. I've had a suggestion on the shop's facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/KnittiPoliti) to make a bunch of daffodils, so may be getting my head round how to make those soon! The kindle case I told you about last month has been road tested and I've found I need to make a few adjustments to the design but it will be up and in the shop in a couple of weeks once I've done that. And on the needles....a retro tea cosy! I'll update you on progress with that in future postings. Have a good weekend!
